Summer Camp/Activity Options for South Brevard Kids

Summer is always a great time to be a kid (maybe not so much for parents...lol). We have quite a few options on for kids to enjoy a healthy and fun summer in our south Space Coast beach neighborhoods!

Satellite Beach:

The Satellite Beach Recreation Department puts out a yellow summer activity guide and you can pick it up at the David R. Schechter Community Center...or many other retail outlets in the area (I got mine at Doubles on South Patrick Dr). It is loaded with all kinds of great sports, dance and science classes and camps. The science camp here is really wonderful for kids from 7-13 years. Mr. Science has been running the camp here for many years and has weekly options like Rocket Camp, Magicians, Science and Wizards camp, Crazy Inventors camp...and much more! Dance camps include ballet, tap and tumbling....and your kids will have many choices in respect to sports...tennis is big here!

Indian Harbour Beach:

Along with Swim Team (Indian Harbour Beach has an Olympic style pool at the Gleason Park recreation center) Indian Harbour Beach offers options like fencing, fishing clinics, charm and modeling classes...as well as pizza and craft night for kids aged 4-10 (this is a great date night option...for only $12 you can have your kids enjoy a little fun from 6-9pm the first Friday of each month. FYI....you must register by Weds to get in). FYI...the swim team fills up very fast so call ahead. The pool at Indian Harbour Beach is a public pool. It costs $2 for IHB residents...and $3 a day for non-residents.

Melbourne Beach:

The big option here (one of my favorites as well) is surf camp! You will have many different options in terms of schools for your kids to learn. Surf Guys in Melbourne Beach (located on Ocean Ave in Melb Bch) have a great reputation for getting the kids up and surfing quickly. The camp is held weekly (either in Melb Bch or Cocoa Bch) and costs $200 (they supply the equipment). Call them at 321.956.3268.

Although a bit of a ride the Brevard Zoo offers some amazing summer camps for kids. They offer 4 day camps, art camps, half day camps and full day camps...here is a link for you to check out the great options: http://www.brevardzoo.org/education/camps
